about

I’ve always imagined, or maybe hoped that there was some unseen force at play in the universe. I always imagined that through some kind of activity, meditation, prayer, etc. I could find a portal, a gateway to that place where I could go ‘behind the scenes’ and see the gears of the universe turning. As time has gone on, I’ve come to realize that the place I’m thinking of is probably little more than a figment of my imagination. Now, to be sure, it’s a happy place in my imagination, but the idea of reaching some metaphysical world has given way to the idea that this place I’m looking for might be in myself, in my decisions, in music, in the sky, on the face of calm lake at night where the moon’s reflection is held in a perfectly still reflection; this place can be anywhere we’re touched by inner peace. The Talisman in the Night Sky is a reference to this kind of touchpoint.

The night sky reveals
a world
waiting.
It’s within me
not
out there,
not a place to
visit,
not a thing to
acquire.
It’s an experience
to have. The portal
is within each of
us as we explore
our
inner lives.
There’s no
shortcut
to yourself,
there’s only
the experience
of knowing
that you know.
Maybe, if you’re lucky,
you can speak of it,
or speak to it.
A finger pointing up
at the moon:
That’s the moon.
Words fall short.
In the richness of being
our human oneness
is a energy source
we’re all connected to
and whether
we know it
or not,
that's all we ever need.
When you’re ready,
the door will appear.
